I worked as a magazine editor for over a decade in New York City and Los Angeles—for three different publications—and at each one “Fall Forward” was banned due to it being a frankly painfully unimaginative hed. I’ve seen it used four times this month alone. Plus, a family member had a nasty fall this month—forward no less—and I don’t recommend it one bit. So, onward.
The summer was a blur, mostly of heat, more heat, and work that took me to Colorado (above), Utah, Nevada, as well as closer to home via Ojai, California (below).
Ojai was a piece for UK label TOAST. Andi wrote the feature and I did the photographs. You can check it out, here.
Throughout all this I wore very few jackets. I hate dressing for summer and need this Los Angeles October heatwave to be over so I can get back to that.
Above, left: the Overgrown Hiker Jacket by Sassafras; middle: the Meditation Jacket made of Akamimi selvedge denim, part of the new Friar Park x Niwaki collaboration; right: Coat 05, made to order in cotton oil cloth, by Louisa Charlotte Oates.
Speaking of Friar Park, I had the pleasure of shooting the first ever live performance of Dragonflies, a new project from Dhani Harrison and Nigel Godrich. They kindly published the photos over on their Instagram.

Also in Brooklyn, the 148 Chair, by Pour Mon Père.

Earlier this week I rebuilt my portraits and documentary photo portfolio site. Take a look at hamish-robertson.com. Need a portrait? Or a website?! HMU.
Lots more to come. Until next time, thanks for reading.
