Welcome to The Octet, a regular newsletter where I, Hamish Robertson, curate and share eight visuals, products, books, sounds, links, and thought-provoking ideas for the curious, aesthetically driven, and creatively inclined.
Born in the UK and trained as both a studio artist and graphic designer, I spent 12 years as a magazine editor—half of those as Vanity Fair’s Design Editor—in both New York City and Los Angeles. As an artist, I’ve shown work at Artist’s Space, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and MoCA, and my photography has been published around the world. Curiosity, with a focus on both the past and future, drives my practice. I started the Octet to share the projects, discoveries, and items that spark wonder and delight for me, hoping others will enjoy, discuss, and share them as well.
While standard issues of the Octet are free to read, paid subscribers get full access to the newsletter as well as the library of back issues via the publication archives.
Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy what you see. Feel free to drop me a line at editor@the-octet.com
